There is nothing mystical or spiritual about liberation.
People often say, “Oh, it doesn’t matter.”
But what they’re actually saying , without those exact words – is that it does matter.
In one sense it doesn’t, and at the same time it does.
So it doesn’t matter that it matters.
When the sense of “I,” created by the brain’s self-referential networks, is no more
and it’s seen that it never was,
it feels as if a cover has been lifted.
This isn’t the apparent end…
It’s, in a way, the apparent beginning.
From a scientific point of view,
the “I” is a construction generated mainly by the Default Mode Network (DMN),
a set of brain regions involved in autobiographical memory, self-referencing, and psychological imagined continuity.
When this activity quiets down or collapses,
the illusory sense of being a separate I, person, individual, ego, soul, and so on … can fall away.
What apparently follows is not mystical —
it’s physiological.
The body, and especially the nervous system, begins to release, bit by bit over what seems like years, all the suppressed tensions and contractions that were covered and held in place by that constant self-referencing point.
Science call’s this the gradual discharge of accumulated autonomic load.
For the first time, the nervous system can fully open without the layer of self that protects, defends, interprets, and holds on to its own story.
And when it opens, there is a deep, natural love.
Not as in a feeling for someone,
but the natural state of being without chronic defense.
A way of being that goes beyond any understanding.
Liberation is a complete bodily shift
that apparently happens when there is a readiness — when the brain no longer maintains that artificial construction.
Neuroscience would say:
the habitual patterns that sustained the “self-model”
simply stop being reinforced.
And when that happens,
the organism can finally relax
in a way words can’t describe.
Life apparently continues as before —
but without a center claiming it.
There is no state to maintain, no experience to own.
Nothing mystical was achieved.
It’s simply the nervous system finding equilibrium without a fictional center interfering.
In the end, nothing is gained.
There is no one who arrives anywhere.
What remains is just this —Life free to appear exactly as it already is …
Much love. 💙
